Authority (SLPA)
celebrates the 29th
anniversary today,
01st August 2008.
Special functions
were held today to
mark the occasion
offering priority to
religious activities
followed by a Bodhi
Puja at the Bodhi
Raja Temple at Fort,
Colombo.
2008, marks an year,
a number of mega
developmental
projects were
launched and
implemented by the
SLPA, specially the
Hambantota Port
Development Project,
Colombo South Port
Development Project,
Galle Port
Development project
as well as the
Oluvil Port
Development Project
being major
developmental
projects in the port
sector.
Also proving the
enhanced efficiency
in the maritime
industry, SLPA
recorded the
highest ever monthly
container throughput
volume in last
June.
SLPA values the
dedicated
contribution by all
its employees who
serve towards the
continuation of
enhanced efficiency
in the port
development and
maritime services at
the institution. The
management of SLPA
under the keen
supervision of Hon.
Minister of Port,
Aviation, Irrigation
and Water Management
Chamal Rajapaksha
has also implemented
a number of measures
to rectify the
salary anomalies
offering effective
salary increments to
the employees at
regular intervals.
Parallel to the
Buddhist religious
activities held at
the Bodhi Raja
Temple, Hindu,
Islamic and Catholic
relegious activities
were also held
inside SLPA to mark
its 29th
anniversary.
