Proposed South Harbour project plan
The bids for the Colombo South
Harbour infrastructure works
financed by the Asian Development
Bank opened Monday.
It is learnt that the bid prices of
China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd.,
Hanjin Heavy Industries and
Construction of Korea and Hyundai
Engineering Construction of Korea
amounting to around Rs.61 billion,
Rs.76 billion and Rs.36 billion
respectively were announced Monday.
The bid proposals were invited in
December 2006 and the bids closed on
May 8 this year with four proposals
received from the three mentioned
above including a Joint
venture/consortium comprising MT
Hojgarrd of Denmark, Boskalis of
Belgium and Hindustan Construction
of India.
After evaluation by the Technical
Evaluation Committee (TEC) and the
Cabinet appointed Procurement
Committee (CAPC) the final
recommendation of the CAPC on the
following companies were forwarded
to the ADB for their concurrent
approval on August 10.
The ADB response with concurrent
approval for the three parties were
communicated to the Ports and
Aviation Secretary later following
which the commercial bids were
opened on Monday with the bid prices
being announced.
