Due to
the forthcoming festival
season the passenger ticket
price of MV Scotia Prince
vessel has been reduced by
Rs 2,750 per ticket.
Accordingly the total return
ticket price will be Rs
12,210 and Rs 6,105 one-way.
Passenger
Ferry Service between
Colombo Port and Tuticorin
Port in Tamil Nadu, India
was established consequent
to the joint declaration
issued in 2010, following
talks held between the
President Mahinda Rajapaksa
and Indian Prime Minister
Manmohan Singh.
Ceylon
Shipping Corporation Ltd. is
the General Sales Agent
(GSA) in Sri Lanka for the
Ferry Service operated by
M/s Flemingo Liners.
The
vessel MV Scotia Prince has
been deployed to operate
this Passenger Ferry Service
between Tuticorin and
Colombo.
The
vessel sails two round trips
per week arriving every
Wednesday and Saturday and
departing every Monday and
Wednesday.
The
Scotia Prince is a
comfortable spacious
passenger ferry vessel with
facilities on board
equalling cruise lines. She
can carry up to 1,044
passengers.
There are
nine levels around the
Scotia Prince which contains
both inward and outward
facing cabins and other
facilities like restaurants,
bars and lounge areas for
the benefit and convenience
of passengers.
The
Economy Class passengers
will continue to benefit
from the free baggage
allowance of 100 kgs and
passengers travelling in
Deluxe and first class
categories could carry up to
150 to 200 kgs free.
Ceylon
Shipping Corporation Ltd is
looking at operating an
additional ship when the
second phase of the Sri
Lankan-India ferry service
begins from Rameswaran, its
Passenger Services Senior
Manager Chithra Jayasinghe
said.
