Lines (PIL)
has
added
Sri
Lanka's
Colombo
port on
its East
Africa -
Far East
Service,
with a
weekly
frequency
calling
on
Fridays.
The new
service
connects
the Far
East and
East
Africa
and
transshipment
cargo
from the
Indian
sub-continent,
a Sri
Lanka
Ports
Authority
statement
said.
PIL
deploys
six
container
ships on
its East
Africa -
Far East
Service
which
will
call at
the
SLPA's
Jaya
Container
Terminal.
"The new
service
is also
expected
offer
faster
and
reliable
options
to Sri
Lankan
importers
from the
Far East
and to
Sri
Lankan
exporters
to East
Africa
while
attracting
new
transshipment
via
Colombo
to and
from
Indian
sub-continent
ports."
The SLPA
said
Pacific
International
Lines
re-commenced
their
East
Africa -
Far East
Service
known as
'EA2'
with the
MV Wehr
Rissen
calling
at the
JCT on
Friday,
July 29,
2011.
The
service
will
provide
direct
connections
from
South
China
and Hong
Kong to
Colombo
and also
from
East
Africa
and
Mozambique
ports.
