WANHAI that has been using the Jaya Container Terminal (JCT) of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) for the past 12 years (since 1998), commenced its East African Service (EAF) recently together with EVERGREEN and SIMATECH, all three lines deploying 01 vessel each with a carrying capacity of 1200 TEUs each. The unique factor of this service is that it will turn around in Colombo
enabling all exports from Indian Sub Continent and Far East for East Africa to be transshipped via Colombo.
The inaugural vessel of the EAF service m/v “MAYU” operated by WANHAI, called at the JCT of SLPA on 12th May, 2010 and handled over 600 moves. It is expected to handle over 1800 moves per call at JCT.
Whilst this East Africa service will enhance WANHAI, Evergreen and Simatech’s overall service profiles and provide customers with another selection of quality service, it will also increase the transshipment volumes via Port
of Colombo.
The East Africa service (EAF) will be a 10 day caller with the port rotation between Colombo - Mombasa
– Dar-Es-Salaam - Colombo
