The number of container
vessels calling on Sri Lanka
increased by 7 percent
during the first ten months
of this year to 3,615 from
3,379 a year earlier, latest
data released by the Central
Bank showed.
The total volume of cargo
handled during this ten
month period amounted to
54.51 million MT, up 6.5
percent from 51.18 million
MT a year ago.
The total number of
containers handled increased
by 2 percent to 3.52 million
from 3.45 million a year
earlier while transshipment
stayed flat at around 2.58
million containers.
