Sri Lanka
should work
in
collaboration
with
private/public
partnerships
in the
logistics
and
transport
sector to be
globally
competitive
Director
General,
Chartered
Institute of
Logistics
International,
Cyril
Bleasdale
said.
“Technology
is changing,
practices
change and
logistics
and
transport
should keep
abreast with
time. This
is a good
opportunity
for a nation
to move
forward,”
Bleasdale
said at the
CILT -
International
Conference
in Colombo
yesterday.
“The
manufacturing
sector is a
fundamental
factor for
the growth
of the
economy.
Therefore,
entre-preneurs
should
understand
what the
customer
wants and
how to
satisfy him,
he added.
“This
occasion
would give
you the
opportunity
to learn how
we should
work as
professionals
and make our
own
contribution
for the
development
of this
sector,”
Bleasdale
said. He
said Sri
Lanka is
conducting
programmes
of this
nature
specially in
universities
like
Moratuwa and
will help to
promote the
country as a
logistics
and
transport
hub in the
region.
“The
principal
objective of
the
Institute is
to promote
and
encourage
the art and
science of
logistics
and
transport
subjects.
Therefore,
the
Institute
has achieved
its
objective
through its
membership
and its
educational
qualifications.
“However,
with the new
technology
developments
we could
offer a
reliable
customer
service,
which would
intern help
to improve
the quality
management
aspect,”
Bleasdale
said.
Chairman of
The Charted
Institute of
Logistics
and
Transport
Saliya
Senanayake
said Sri
Lanka has to
leverage on
its
geographical
location and
its abundant
human
resources
strengths to
develop
opportunities.
This
conference
gives an
opportunity
to learn how
youth might
as
professionals
make their
own
contribution
towards the
Sri Lankan
logistics
and
transport
field. All
participants
will
immensely
benefit from
this
international
conference.
“Sri Lanka
was a first
for
marketing
remarks
since 40
years. We
have to
rebuild the
situation
again and
now its time
for us to
search new
innovations
of the
field,”

Development
and
International
Trade
