Dr. Priyath Bandu Wickrama assumes duties as the 13th Chairman of Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA). Dr. Wickrama is also the first ever youngest Chairman to assume duties in this post in the 29 years of history of SLPA.

Following the resignation of Saliya Wickramasuriya former Chairman Dr. Priyath Bandu Wickrama had earlier been appointed as the Acting Chairman of SLPA by Minister of Ports, Aviation, Irrigation and Water Management, Chamal Rajapaksa.

Joined as a Mechanical Engineer to the Permanent service of SLPA. Dr. Priyath Bandu Wickrama is also the first and the only Chairman of SLPA to assume duties being a permanent employee in SLPA history.

A complete three year plan to develop Sri Lanka Ports Authority is also expressed as the new Chairman assumes duties and it becomes the first ever instance in the history of SLPA, that a new Chairman expresses a complete port development plan.

Several key major global issues such as changes in the shipping industry, development of ports and the global financial crisis.
